About Us
The Valdosta area??s only CSA providing 100% locally grown products in versatile family sized portions to meet all of your family??s needs all year long. Silverwood Farm is family owned and operated providing organically grown vegetables, fruits, free-range eggs, pasture raised beef/lamb meats and OMRI listed certified organic soil amendments with future plans for summer vegetables being available in the winter, honey, fresh and dried herbs, flowers, greenhouse and nursery plants, cheeses and other dairy products. We are not a typical row crop farm, planting every certified organic seed by hand never using chemical/synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, plant growth regulators, etc. We have a loving, hands-on approach when raising all of our pasture grazed farm animals. The producer/consumer relationship seems to be something that has been lost over time. Throughout the United States, most all grocery store items and some market items travel an average of 1500 miles just to get to your dinner table. We believe that you should know who, what, when, where and how your produce, meats, etc. are grown. Our farm has an open door policy. Anyone anytime can come by and see how we grow our vegetables and raise our animals. The children can pet a cow, sheep or asian water buffalo. Eating all natural, locally grown insures you the ripest produce and freshest meats, that you are eating healthier with no chemicals, preservatives or coloring additives, and that you are keeping your money in our local economy. Through our CSA it will also insure that you will be saving money. It??s no secret that organic prices at your local grocery store average 50% higher or more than non-organic offerings. This is something that we do not understand. Just because we can charge a higher price doesn??t make it right in our eyes. We are able to grow what we do for approximately the same cost as conventional produce/meats and will be passing these savings on to our customers. We plan to start our CSA in the middle of this summer with a website being up and functional explaining a little more about who we are and what we will offer as soon as possible. If this seems like something that you would be interested in, please feel free to contact us.
