We are a married couple of a certain age who love food, love cooking together and love sharing our concoctions with others. With our corporate, nonprofit and consulting careers behind us and a lot more time in front of us we wondered what comes next? We wanted to have some fun together and not let a lifetime of experiences go to waste and that is how Idyll Cravings was born. Our small batch condiments made right here in Colorado grew out of recipes we created as gifts for friends and family. The tips on how to use our chutneys, glazes and more are their stories and what they did with what we gave them. We think helping people elevate their taste and providing women with employment challenges a way to work fits us just fine at this time of life. And yes, we are having a blast together.
This fruity tart condiment is a perfect addition to enhance the flavor of most meat, dairy and breads. Try it as glaze on your roasted beef, pork or poultry. During the last 15 minutes of baking just pour it on!
If you need a convenient and easy appetizer you can blend the chutney with a soft cheese like goat cheese and serve it with apple slices, a refreshing change from a sauce on cream cheese with crackers.
How about stepping up your breakfast baked goods. Use the chutney on muffins, quick breads or toast. You also bake it in pastry, more interesting than store bought toaster goods.
